H2020 and REXP
H2020 releases cell phone survey partnered with Renewable Exploration, begins operations in Latin America
H2020 is pleased to announce the launch of its Water Poverty Initiative. Today, H2020 begins collecting data in slums throughout Chile using its mobile phone-based water poverty survey.
H2020’s Water Poverty Initiative uses mobile phones to collect data on water quantity, quality, access and price in slum communities. Using multidimensional space representation techniques (AI), we will combine this “crowdsourced” information with data from other sources (like water poverty reports and satellite images) and publish it using a map-based format.
The Water Poverty Initiative will improve public knowledge about water problems in slums, increase the efficiency with which information is gathered and published, and stimulate implementation of scalable solutions.
H2020 is assisted in this initiative by Un Techo para mi Pais (data collection) and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (AI).
H2020 is a social venture which uses mobile phones to collect and map water data. Our projects help communities and industries understand the dynamics of their water resources. H2020’s projects range from building mapping tools for monitoring watersheds to quantifying the effects of water poverty on the people who live in the bottom of the economic pyramid. Our goal is to provide globally comprehensive, just-in-time information that is presented in a way that is simple and intuitive to use.
